Hutt House

Bespoke Wire and Rope was approached by Melbourne Design Studio to supply and install a series of custom made, trafficable nets within this stunning passive house in Coburg.

Each of the 11 nets were different, all with their own shape to conform to the complex structure of the CLT framed house. There wasn't a square room in the house!

Our scope included fixing all of the stainless steel perimeter eyelets, supplied by Arcus Wire Group. These eyelets helped shape the Hi-Spec 3000 UHMWPE custom spliced rope perimeter, supplied by Whittam Ropes. This high strength rope was covered with a black polyester sheath to hide all splices and lashings, giving a neat and seamless finish to the perimeter.

All netting was supplied by our trusted partner Oxley Nets, who played a fundamental role in delivering the perfect border finishes to the templated nets. Without their expertise, accuracy and dedication, this project would not have been possible.

These nets filled the voids from the kid's bedroom lofts in lieu of balustrades, spanned an outdoor courtyard in the form of a bridge, acted as a seat at the top of the stairwell in lieu of a balustrade and was used to create an outdoor hammock shaped around a tree in the backyard.

This project was a true example of how versatile these nets can be and was a great opportunity to showcase the skill and expertise of the team at Bespoke.
