Vertical Cable Balustrades, Ballarat VIC
Bespoke Wire & Rope collaborated with Nicholson Construction and Wardle to design, supply, and install vertical cable balustrades for the void above the foyer at St Patrick’s College Performing Arts Centre in Ballarat. The project required detailed shop drawings and early coordination to ensure the base structure could accommodate the system.
Location: 1431 Sturt St, Ballarat VIC
Completion Date: October 2023
Client: St Patrick’s College
Builder: Nicholson Construction
Architect: Wardle
Our Scope
Bespoke designed, engineered, and installed tensioned vertical cable balustrades to the foyer void area. Shop drawings and structural reaction reports were provided to the fabricators completing the base build, allowing them to incorporate suitable support and predrilled holes for precise cable installation.
To streamline the installation, Bespoke utilised in-house 3D printing to manufacture custom clips, expediting the process while maintaining precision.
The balustrades were installed to:
Provide compliant fall protection to the large foyer void
Integrate seamlessly with pre-fabricated base build components
Achieve architectural precision through detailed shop drawings
Deliver efficient installation supported by innovative 3D printed tools
This project demonstrates Bespoke’s ability to combine advanced design coordination, engineering detail, and on-site innovation to deliver compliant balustrade systems in complex architectural spaces.
