Bespoke Wire & Rope was engaged by the Swan River Pedestrian Bridge Alliance and Main Roads WA to deliver a series of safety barriers along Matagarup Bridge in Perth. Working alongside architect Denton Corker Marshall and fabrication partner Skymaze Industries, we designed and installed tailored Flexi-mesh and cable systems to secure multiple access points without compromising the bridge’s architectural design.

Our Scope
Bespoke designed, engineered, supplied and installed custom barrier frames with Flexi-mesh infill, as well as direct mesh-to-structure fixings using tensioned cables to minimise the need for heavy steelwork.
The installation required detailed planning due to crane load restrictions on the bridge and the high flow of pedestrians. With safety as the priority, our qualified and experienced installers coordinated closely with Skymaze Industries to deliver the barriers safely, efficiently and under budget.
The barriers were installed to:
Prevent unauthorised access to restricted areas of the bridge
Deliver secure, transparent safety screens without excessive framing
Ensure compliance with safety standards under challenging site conditions
Maintain pedestrian safety during installation in a high-traffic environment
