Bespoke was engaged to design a rigging suspension system that would disappear into the ceiling structure while meeting strict engineering and safety requirements. Drilling into the existing steelwork was prohibited, and conventional coloured rigging slings would have been visually intrusive.

To resolve this, Bespoke manufactured custom Australian-made round slings using white Racespec Spectra rope. These blended seamlessly into the ceiling structure while offering exceptional strength. A portion of the 10mm Spectra braid slings was destruction tested to determine the breaking load (nearly 10T), enabling a Safe Working Load of 1T to be certified. All remaining slings were proof-tested before installation.

Installation was carried out overnight to accommodate the shopping centre’s trading hours. Cables were swaged on site to suit exact measurements, allowing the artists to make visual adjustments during installation. This flexible approach ensured the artwork could be positioned precisely as envisioned by the artists.

The rigging was installed to:

• Suspend dichroic flower sculptures securely while remaining visually unobtrusive

• Deliver custom Australian-made slings to integrate seamlessly into the ceiling

• Provide tested, certified, and proof-loaded lifting solutions for safety and compliance

• Enable on-site artistic adjustment for final positioning
