Bespoke Wire & Rope partnered with Building Engineering and Searle x Waldron Architecture to deliver extensive Flexi-mesh balustrades for the Sages Rd Depot in Glenroy, a precinct managed by the Greater Melbourne Cemeteries Trust. The project required bespoke cleat attachments and precise engineering to ensure compliance and architectural integration across multiple building conditions.

Our Scope

Bespoke designed, engineered, supplied, and installed approximately 400m² of Flexi-mesh balustrades. The system incorporated custom welded cleat attachments designed for both balustrade stanchions and CLT building structures.

The project included:

  • 1m tall balustrades to all elevated walkways around the precinct

  • Custom floor-to-ceiling balustrade panels spanning large internal voids

  • Full-height façade balustrade panels integrated into the building envelope

Working closely with Performance Engineering and their drafting team, Bespoke ensured the cleat designs were incorporated into approved drawings and installed precisely to meet engineering parameters.

The balustrades were installed to:

  • Provide compliant fall protection across walkways, voids, and façades

  • Integrate seamlessly with CLT structures using custom cleat detailing

  • Deliver large-scale Flexi-mesh installations without compromising architectural design

  • Support the project vision through close collaboration with solution-focused architects

This project highlights Bespoke’s ability to deliver large, complex balustrade systems with architectural partners, balancing compliance, design intent, and installation precision.
