Snow Leopard & Coati Enclosures,
Melbourne Zoo

Large-scale Flexi-mesh enclosures designed and installed for the Snow Leopards and Coatis at Melbourne Zoo, combining animal safety, durability, and architectural detailing.

Snow Leopard & Coati Enclosures,
Melbourne Zoo

Bespoke Wire & Rope worked with Lloyd Group, ARK, Urban Initiatives, Ola Studio, and Arterial Design to deliver multiple animal enclosures as part of the Carnivore’s Trail at Melbourne Zoo. Thousands of square metres of Flexi-mesh were installed over several months, supported by angled columns, tensioned cables, and tie back rods. The works required precise sequencing and coordination with other contractors, ensuring access and program deadlines were maintained. Since completion, Bespoke has continued to provide ongoing maintenance and upgrades to mesh and cable systems across the Zoo.

Location: Melbourne Zoo, Elliot Ave, Parkville, VIC

Completion Date: 2017

Client: Zoos Victoria

Builder: Lloyd Group

Our Scope

Bespoke installed thousands of square metres of Flexi-mesh for the Snow Leopard and Coati enclosures, each supported by angled steel columns, stainless steel cables, and tie back rods. Installation sequencing was critical, with columns, cables, and panels installed in carefully coordinated stages to maintain safe pathways for other contractors.

The enclosures were installed to:

  • Provide secure and durable containment for Snow Leopards and Coatis

  • Integrate large spans of Flexi-mesh into complex support structures

  • Ensure program deadlines and contractor access were maintained

  • Support long-term maintenance and reduced lifecycle costs for Zoos Victoria

This project highlights Bespoke’s expertise in delivering complex animal enclosure systems, combining durability, safety, and seamless integration into high-profile public environments.
