Hutt House
Innovative tensile nets crafted for a unique Coburg passive home.
Hutt House, Coburg
Bespoke Wire & Rope was approached by Melbourne Design Studio to supply and install a series of custom-made, trafficable nets within this stunning passive house in Coburg. Each net was uniquely shaped to fit the complex CLT-framed architecture — there wasn’t a single square room!
Location: Coburg, VIC
When: April 2021
Client: Melbourne Design Studio
Project Partners: Arcus Wire Group, Whittam Ropes, Oxley Nets

Our Scope
Our scope included fixing all stainless steel perimeter eyelets supplied by Arcus Wire Group. These eyelets helped shape the Hi-Spec 3000 UHMWPE custom spliced rope perimeter from Whittam Ropes. The high-strength rope was covered with a black polyester sheath to hide all splices and lashings, delivering a neat and seamless finish.
All netting was supplied by our trusted partner Oxley Nets, whose expertise ensured perfect border finishes on each templated net. Their accuracy and dedication were fundamental in bringing this project to life.
The nets were installed to:
Fill voids in the kid’s bedroom lofts instead of balustrades
Span an outdoor courtyard as a bridge
Act as a seat at the top of the stairwell
Form an outdoor hammock shaped around a backyard tree
This project demonstrates the versatility of Bespoke’s nets and showcases the skill and craftsmanship of the team.
