Catenary Lighting System, Sydney Olympic Park NSW
Bespoke Wire & Rope partnered with Ultegra to design and install a series of catenary cables at Sydney Olympic Park. Running between the treelines that connect the train station to the stadium, the system was developed to support a new lighting installation aimed at improving public safety in previously unlit areas.
Location: Sydney Olympic Park, NSW
Completion Date: May 2020
Client: Ultegra
Our Scope
Bespoke supplied and installed tensioned stainless steel catenary cables to support a permanent night lighting series. The system used 6mm 1x19 cables from Arcus Wire Group, fixed to existing I-beam columns with 12mm bow shackles.
Installation required careful coordination to maintain safe separation between machines and pedestrian zones, ensuring minimal disruption in a high-traffic public precinct.
The system was installed to:
Support lighting for increased public safety in high-use areas
Deliver a durable, long-span cable solution using premium stainless steel
Integrate seamlessly with existing I-beam structures
Maintain safety during installation in a live public environment
This project highlights Bespoke’s expertise in delivering tensile infrastructure systems that enhance public amenity and safety.
